Building & Maintenance Projects

In recent years an economic crisis has engulfed every level of Solomon Island society including vital infrastructure.  Now the international community is giving a helping hand in many areas, but it is up to the Christian Community to assist South Sea Evangelical Church (SSEC) to restore their buildings to a good standard of maintenance.

Some properties need some TLC (Tender Loving Care), others need an MMO (Major Make Over.)  We'll use these codes to indicate the level of maintenance needed to restore the buildings.

Thank you for coming to this link to learn more about our projects and to see how God has been working through us all on this journey of practical help to the South Seas Evangelical Church in the Solomon Islands. It has been a joy for me to work with the team members who have given freely of their time and money to work on these projects.

It all started in 2004 when God called me to go with John Sheen to the Solomons Islands on a journey of discovery. It was a wonderful experience being in a different culture and leaning about the warmth of the people. That is when I found out that God had a purpose for my trip, to work in a different culture in a practical way and to help the church.

The First project was to build a house in Honiara in August 2004.

Team members at Honiara airport.

Then in March 2006 a team went to Auki on the Island of Malaita to renovate the transit house and the offices at the front. The team members enjoyed their time interacting with the local people as they worked on the project.

The next project was to be at Kira Kira but because of the tsunami in the western province in April 2007 we postponed the trip to Kira Kira and went to Honiara .The project there was to put down a concrete foundation for a print shop behind Head Office. There were some repairs to the shed roof at the back of the church.  While we were there some of the team worked on the Honiara transit house, they built a new tank stand and renovated a bathroom.

The team that went to Kira Kira in July 2008 to renovate the transit house have returned with the report of a job well done praise the Lord.

The Saora Bible College Project (ongoing until completion)

These projects that have been carried out have helped the church there with ongoing and new programs.

We want to thank every one who has prayed and supported us. We pray that God Is glorified in all that is done.

Now we look forward to what God has for us to do next year In about July 2011 we will be going back with another team, so if you would like to come please contact John Hobbs.    info@friendsofssec.org

Not one of us is as good as all of us working together to build Gods Kingdom.
